Labor Day sales across all industries are to be expected. Just like any other long weekend holiday, retailers rely on consumers who just want to shop and spend money.
Christy Sports is no exception as they are back for the 13th year of their premier early-season ski clearance sale branded as Powder Daze. Only this year it is much more an event than just a sale.
Along with scoring up to 60% off ski and snowboard gear, including apparel and accessories, Christy Sports plans to host food carts, ski films, a women’s night, a family night, and will extend exclusive pass offers from Ikon Pass and local resorts. Inventory of items will include more than 3,000 pairs of skis and ski boots, more than 1,200 snowboards and snowboard boots, as well as 6,000 jackets, 2,000 pairs of goggles and so much more. With everything slated to happen, this looks more like a season kickoff event than just a clearance sale.
This year’s event will take place August 25 – September 4 and there are numerous locations to attend, both online and at five retail stores. They include:
The Littleton store is where all the major events will be taking place.
Teton Gravity Research will be there Friday through Sunday of both weekends playing videos from TGR ski films on flat-screen TVs. They will also have virtual reality headsets for kids and a pop-up retail outlet.
The pass deals will be numerous including $75 off Ikon passes, and discounts on tickets to Loveland Ski Area, Monarch Mountain, and Arapahoe Basin.
Other organizations attending include Protect Our Winters, SOS Outreach, and Colorado Ski Country USA.
Of course, there will be the carryover inventory of last year’s gear, but participants will also be able to buy last year’s demo skis and snowboards with bindings for $300-$500. Professional boot fitters will also be on hand at all retail stores to help get the perfect fit for anyone buying new boots. Attendees looking to rent equipment for the upcoming season can do so as well. Rent and ski bundles for kids will be available for both Loveland Ski Area and Monarch Mountain.
If you create an account online with Christy Sports, you will be granted VIP access to the Event. VIP status unlocks an array of benefits including $25 off your order of $250 or more. It also gets you early access to the event on Thursday, August 24 from 3 pm – 9 pm at the Littleton store. The first 50 guests receive a prize pack with gift cards ranging from $20 to $100. The prize pack will also include other swag like RTIC drinkware, raffle tickets, free drinks, exclusive pass partner deals, and more.
This is a welcomed event after the demise of the Denver Ski Expo, which was an annual event held in November at the Colorado Convention Center. It was last held in 2019. Now Powder Daze is filling the void, only this time they are starting the stoke even earlier as it is technically still summer for some.
If you’re close to a retail store head on in for some fun and deals, or jump online for some gear savings. Remember, ski season is less than 100 days away!
